AFX Research operates a title search property for each of the fifty states. Recording and indexing practice is set county by county and it varies, so each state site is written around the practice in that state.

Every site below is an AFX Research property — these are our own state sites, not an index of other companies. Orders placed on any of them are worked by AFX abstractors.

South Dakota is served by our nationwide site rather than a dedicated state property.

Coverage

Four offices, abstractors in every US county

AFX has certified title abstractors in every county in the United States, working out of four offices. A state site is where the search is ordered; the county recorder is where the work happens.

Local practice is not universal practice. Some counties report their records electronically and some do not, and indexing conventions differ. What a search can establish is agreed county by county rather than assumed — and the report says which counties reported.
